HSHost: Welcome to Hollywood Spotlight. My name is Amy and I will be your host this evening. We are all very excited about our special guest this evening, actress, KARI WUHRER. Welcome to the show, Kari! Kari: Thank you very much, Amy. I'm great today! It's a beautiful day here in Hollywood! It is hot, but ... HSHost: If you're at the beach you're doing great! Lots of people on line asking you questions ... guest1933 asks "Do you have any interests in the paranormal..I guess relating to your Sliders?" Kari: Okay. Well, I have parents that are paranormal! Kari laughs Kari: I always wanted a normal life but I got a paranormal one. Get it? Parents, normal, pair. Pretty bad. bilbobaggins asks "how'd you get started in acting?"" Kari: I was very young and I'm from the TV generation, of course, aren't we all. And I used to watch Family Affair and Buffy and Jody when I was three and always wanted to be Buffy. So, at a very young age had this interest in acting, and dancing, and singing and Judy Garland and that show "That's Entertainment" that I think CBS did for a while. And I just bugged my parents until they put me in class. I started in off-broadway because I grew up outside NYC, and started from there. bilbobaggins asks "What drew you to work on Sliders?" Kari: Well, I did a show on MTV called "Remote Control" which had a huge cult following, and I've always been attracted to the type of films and television shows that have a cult following. For some reason how I fell into the niche ... And, Sliders offered me the job. And, I loved the whole sci fi enchilada that was happening on TV and in film, and um .... I just read it and gave it a shot ... it's a character I never played before and I thought it was very interesting that they offered me, who's always played the sexy girl, to play a marine captain. I thought that was very; I thought it was a good omen, so I took the job and it's been really fun. bilbobaggins asks "So do you get along with all the cast on Sliders?" Kari: Oh, God yeah .... it's been the best job in the whole world! The cast is outrageous. Jerry O'Connell, his brother Charlie, make everything really fun and crazy and light and Clevant Derricks who plays Remi is just the soul of the group ... he's incredible to work with." HSH Host asks "Do you think there's any love interest that may be going on within the show?" Kari: You're just going to have to watch ... Maybe ...
Kari chuckles bilbobaggins asks "Have you ever played any practical jokes with any of your castmates on the show?" Kari laughs Kari: Oh we have a thing with each other's trailors. In the makeup trailors, we have one of those beauty school heads that you learn to apply makeup on and do the hair, and so one time I put the beauty school head in Jerry's refrigerator in his trailor with a candle and I made it eerie and he nearly had a heart attack! And I think Charlie put vaseline on my toilet. We had it going on for a little while. Kari laughs bilbobaggins asks "What are some of the weirdest things that happened to you as a child?" Kari: Well, hmmm ... Let me think about that. I remember this one time, I grew up in Connecticut. There were a lot of storms this one winter, I don't know if this is really interesting but... I was young, it was amazing at the time. Kari laughs! Kari: We had these like freezing rains and we had already had like two feet of snow on the ground and all the snow froze over like ice. And I grew up in the Berkshires which is like you know very hilly sort of foot hills, and the snow froze solid like ice. So me and my friends would ice skate all over the streets and people's lawns. That was pretty weird. Yeah we'd be skating down the street. You couldn't drive or go to school or anything. Everyone was pretty much locked in their houses, we used to put on our ice skates and skate to each other's houses all over the neighborhood. It was great. HSHost: That sounds great.
